Resin art has grown popular quickly in India, and with that popularity comes a fair share of misinformation. Before you buy or commission a piece, it helps to separate fact from fiction. Here are some common resin art myths we hear regularly, and what is actually true.
Myth 1: Resin Art Always Yellows Over Time
Lower-quality, non-UV-resistant resin can yellow with sun exposure, but properly formulated UV-resistant resin, used correctly and kept out of prolonged direct sunlight, resists yellowing for a very long time. The resin type and curing process matter far more than resin art as a category.
Myth 2: Air Bubbles Mean the Piece Is Low Quality
A few tiny, evenly distributed bubbles can occur even in careful work and do not necessarily indicate poor craftsmanship. What matters more is whether bubbles are large, clustered, or affecting the clarity around the preserved flowers, which is something we check for during quality control before any piece ships.
Myth 3: Resin Art Is Fragile and Breaks Easily
Cured resin is actually quite durable for normal handling, similar to a hard plastic or glass-like surface. It can chip under a sharp impact or hard drop, but everyday handling, cleaning, and display will not damage a well-cured piece.
Myth 4: All Resin Smells or Is Toxic Once Cured
Resin can have a noticeable smell during mixing and curing, but fully cured resin is inert and does not carry that smell or off-gas once finished. Any lingering odour usually means a piece has not fully cured, which is why we allow proper curing time before finishing and shipping.
Myth 5: Preserved Flowers Will Always Look Exactly Like They Did Fresh
| Myth | Reality |
|---|---|
| Flowers preserve in their exact fresh colour | Some natural colour shift is normal and expected |
| Any flower can be preserved perfectly | Flatter, smaller blooms preserve more predictably |
| Preservation stops all change forever | Preservation slows fading significantly, it does not fully stop it |
Myth 6: Handmade Means Inconsistent Quality
Handmade means natural variation between pieces, not poor quality. Every piece still goes through the same careful process, curing, sanding, and inspection, regardless of small differences in flower placement or pattern.

Fully cured resin is inert and safe to handle normally; concerns mostly apply during the uncured mixing and pouring stage, which is handled by trained artists.
Can resin art be repaired if damaged?
Minor surface scratches can sometimes be polished out, though deep cracks or chips are harder to fully repair and may require a replacement piece.
Do all resin pieces look glossy?
Most are finished glossy, though matte finishes are also possible depending on the design and your preference.
